TW Crash with Screensaver

Postby fenihel » Thu Oct 20, 2011 7:58 pm

Is there any way to keep a Thinking Worlds standalone/ internet application from crashing after having the computer's screen saver come up?

One of the older posts here seems to suggest that running a flash swf will prevent this crash, but when I do this and resume, the screen for Thinking Worlds is just black.

I'm using version 3.3.1.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello,

This is due to a conflict with our instance of a direct x device and your screen saver trying to do the same.

This has been fixed in later versions of thinking worlds, so I would recommend upgrading to the latest version of thinking worlds.

Unfortunately, I currently don't have the option of upgrading this particular project to the newest version of Thinking Worlds. Are you aware of any other work-arounds for older versions?

I had heard of using a constantly running flash image to keep the screen saver from coming up to begin with, but when I tried it, I couldn't make the character move or anything - I guess you can't interact with the world or accept input from the user while there is a flash video playing?

Unfortunately not, this is a very common error with directx. I have heard of the flash solution but not managed to get it working myself.
