Blender to Thinking Worlds

Postby DavyMcKay » Tue Aug 11, 2009 1:01 pm

Hi

I'm looking to bring Blender files into Thinking Worlds as opposed to 3ds Max format. Do you have a custom exporter for Blender? If not - what should I export my models out to that would give me the best results?

Do you also have any plans for .fbx & collada?

Hi Davy,

Currently Thinking Worlds uses it own format, which can only be created via the MAX plugin. In the distant future Caspian want to create support for other artwork packages and formats, MAYA, Collada etc.

If you can get your files into .fbx, Max does allow importation of this format.

Thanks, Rob.

Thanks Rob

I'll try the FBX Convertor from Autodesk and see how I get on.

Many thanks

So...given that Sketchup Pro can export to .fbx, can we use models from Google's 3D model warehouse, bung them through Sketchup and then use them in TWs? That would be useful...

If they can export to FBX you can then import into 3ds MAX.

Ah - direct import of fbx into TW feels like a huge step as you'll then make the whole google warehouse available...another price-point dropper...
