Logic Groups

Postby andwilliams » Tue Jan 19, 2010 4:39 pm

When creating a group from selected nodes - if you miss out a node that should be in that group, is there any way of adding it? Or indeed, is there any way of collapsing a logic group once created (so could reselect).

For myself it's not a massive issue, but I am teaching students to create logic groups as they go to keep the scene flow (and therefore their thinking) tidy and to help debug each others work (as logic groups all named)

Any help appreciated!

Andy

Apart from manually adding nodes missed when creating a group (which is probably the best option for single nodes) the only other method is to use the 'Node template manager'. Using this you, or your students, would:

  • Select a group of nodes
  • Launch the Node template manager (jigsaw icon on top left of button bar)
  • Click 'New'
  • Give the new template a name
  • Leave the Node template manager open and navigate to the group
  • Select the template name and click on 'Paste to canvas'

This will add the nodes to the group canvas. You have the option of deleting the template if it is only for temporary use.

To collapse a logic group you would use the same process, but in reverse. Create a temporary template from the group nodes, add them to the main (or parent) canvas and then delete the group.
