Multiple scene score tracking

Postby GarethF » Fri Jan 22, 2010 10:58 am

Hi there,

My question is about tracking a score across more then one scene/ environment.

If the player was for example in the carpark level and they answered several questions, i then made them jump to the classroom and back. Is it possible to
a) Keep the score achieved i the carpark and add whatever is achieved in the classroom to this,
b) When the learner returns to the carpark, all the scores will be combined.

Another question i also have is,
If my level has a room that you cannot directly walk into, but if i build in a door, and an invisible object, is it possible to teleport the user within the same level and back again? I know you can jump between scenes, but can you move around a level?

Regards,

Hi Gareth

Thinking Worlds variables can be scene or journey level. When you create a new variable to store your scores or values, change the 'Context' from 'Scene' to 'Journey'. Journey level variables retain their value irespective of scene.

You can 'teleport' within a scene using a combination of 'Manipulate entity' nodes and markers. You cannot move through walls though. So to move a character, or the player, into a closed room in the same scene you would need to place markers in the air, higher than the walls, and move the entity 'up and over' to the new postion.
