Remove an Idle Animation from a Character

Postby amanda » Wed Oct 28, 2009 9:58 pm

Is it possible to remove an idle animation from a character? I have a sitting character who I would like to stand. I can do this by resetting the idle animation to observing or listening, but then she moves her head. When I set the idle animation to none, I get an error message.

Hi Amanda

Thinking Worlds characters need to have either a full or an idle animation set.
If I understand you correctly you would like a completely still idle animation?
If this is the case then a custom idle animation would be necessary.
The alternative (and one we at Caspian have used) is to create a character as an object.

Would you like a member of the Caspian Art team to talk you through the options for you?

Hi Neville,

Thanks for your response. I don't think I need to talk to a member of the art team at the moment.

When I first add the character to the scene, she seems relatively still. I just want her to return to that same relatively still state after I apply an idle animation for a period of time. Is that possible, or would I need to create a new character?

Thanks,

Amanda

Hi Amanda

To set the idle animation, are you using the 'Set animation' node, or the 'Set idle animation' node?
Which character are you applying this to?

I'm using the 'Set idle animation' node the Smart Modern Female 2 character.

Hi Amanda

Could you please mail me the scene where this happens so that I can investigate.
In your "My Documents\Caspian\Journeys\" folder will be a folder with the name of your journey. In this folder is the *.scene file.
Pop it into a zip file and mail to:

neville.rudd@caspianlearning.co.uk

Thanks

Neville
