Collision Testing

Does anyone know how to detect when the player character collides with other characters, objects, or scene components (like walls)? I want to be able to take programatic actions when these events occur.

Is there an event or variable of some type that is set when a collision occurs?

Currently player collision is not exposed to cscript and therefore it is not possible to detect this dynamically.
However this does seem to us a good enhancement and, as such, we have added it as a story to our product backlog.
